Econews Africa put forward a complaint on 13 April 2023, requesting that the STIP negotiations, which were scheduled to resume on 17 April 2023, be put on hold. This is due to the fact that while Kenya has not yet conducted public participation for the US-KE STIP, the US has already done so to their Trade Representative. Further, due to the potential impact on the agricultural sector, Econews Africa is especially concerned about Kenya's agricultural trade liberalisation. They propose that the chapter on agriculture be entirely stricken off.
